The Milton Historical Society is pleased to introduce you to two of our long-standing and very knowledgeable members who are available to speak at your next event.
John Challinor II
John Challinor II is available to speak about Milton's history during the evening or on weekends by appointment. He is a former journalist-turned-public affairs professional, longtime community volunteer and local historian. For his voluntary contributions to Canada over many years, he was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012. For his contributions to preserving local history, he was a recipient of the Ontario Heritage Foundation's Achievement Award in 2005.
John McDonald is available to speak about Halton and Milton's histories during the day, evenings or on weekends by appointment. John has researched the history of the Halton area since 1970, an interest which started when he began inquiring into the Limehouse and Dolly Varden areas where he spent his youth as the eldest of nine children. A founding member of the Esquesing Historical Society and former member of Halton Hills and Halton Region Councils, John takes a keen interest in the community and has helped to awaken a new interest in this area's history.
