This is the story of one small Ontario town - Milton and area - during World War I.

It's the story of more than 80 from the area who were killed in service, more than 450 who served and the battles they fought.

It is the story of life in the community, the support generated for the war and the crushing news of fatality or injury that came too often.

More that 170 pictures record those who served and the community of their origin.  Community life around the 164th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force is recounted and the book concludes with the post-war construction of the Cenotaphs at Victoria Park and Haltonville.

Sales of this book were such that it sold out very quickly. If you did not get a copy and still want to read the book - there is a copy held in the Reading Room at the Milton Historical Society. Consideration is being given to preparing a digital version of this book. Since the completion of these works a number of corrections have been made to the details on the Milton Soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. A complete copy of those corrections are available in the files at the MHS on James Street, most of which have been incorporated into the web site version of the Milton Soldiers Project. As part of the 2011 Gold Watch Project,  an additional 35 Milton Soldiers of the Great War have been identified that are not referenced in the book. A complete list of those men is in the MHS file version.
