Monthly Meeting: History of Blacksmithing

Guest Speakers – Darwyne Hourie & Lloyd Johnston will be speaking about the traditional history of Blacksmithing and its importance through the ages. Lloyd is a 5th generation blacksmith whose relentless pursuit of excellence for over 50 yrs. brings a wealth of knowledge. He has worked at various historical sites on replication artifacts, doing conservation & restoration work – e.g. Wellington Wall Gate on Parliament Hill. Darwyne has been blacksmithing for 15 yrs. specializing in teaching and demonstrating at Scugog Shores and Pickering Village museums. He has also been involved with the wheelwrighting side of the trade. Darwyne has been volunteering at our shop since the beginning, teaching and demonstrating.

Milton Historical Society: Carriage Room
